There’s a great new book out on GFP (green fluorescent protein) and its invaluable role in studying disease mechanisms. Marc Zimmer is a professor at Connecticut College and an expert (fanatic) on GFP. The book covers the absolutely fascinating history of how GFP and its significance were discovered, and how this glowing protein is being applied to understand and defeat diseases like malaria, dengue fever, cancer, HIV/AIDS, the flu, and more. Highly recommended! You can read more on the Gizmodo web site and purchase the Kindle edition or the hardcover at Amazon.
