Fluorescence Images by Marcelo Mariozi The photographs on this page were taken by Sebastian Hennige in South East Sulawesi in Indonesia. Sebastian is a graduate student in the UK. Marcelo Mariozi is a highly experienced Brazilian underwater photographer. He sent the pictures on this page within weeks of receiving his NightSea photo accessories. These shots were made at approximately 1:1 magnification, which makes it very difficult to achieve focus at all, much less any depth of field. The photos were made around the islands offshore of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The subjects are corals and corallimorpharians, but they are not reef-building varieties, and this is not a 'coral reef' environment in the sense you might be used to in the Caribbean, Indo-Pacific, or Red Sea. The lesson - fluorescence is everywhere. Link to Marcelo's web site.
